The Tertiary Scholarship and Loans Service (TSLS) will roll out a new digital platform where graduates and employers can connect.

The TSLS Employer Connect Framework will match job skills and qualifications with the appropriate vacancies that are available.

TSLS chief executive officer Hasmukh Lal said such an initiative would be the first for the Pacific, as a similar model was already in operation in Australia.

“Within six months, we will have the fully-fledged, developed online portal where it’ll be no human intervention,” he said.

“At the touch of a button, the employer can look for students in the areas where they have vacancies. These students can look up employers where they advertise their vacancies so that they can show expressions of interest.”

Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations Agni Deo Singh welcomed this support program, saying it would ease the burden through information sharing, as a formal agreement would be signed with employers to access data on graduates.

“This means expedition of talent search for employers and at the same time provide an avenue for the graduates to secure employment opportunities,” he said.

“With exodus in skilled migration, the demand for graduates is ever increasing. Through this program, employers can also engage students during their holidays to fill in temporary positions through attachments or work placements to gain experience.”

TSLS will also engage four local students who studied software engineering to develop the portal.
