THE Nabou Green Energy Ltd power plant in Navutu, Nadroga, is temporarily closed but no staff member has been laid off, says company team leader Avijit Chowdhury.
He said contrary to reports, no person working for the company has lost his job.
“We have approached and have had to consult our shareholders in Korea, and according to our company’s reference, and our human resources department, we have not laid off any of our staff so far,” he said.
He said workers claiming they had been out of work since last year could have been contracted by other companies.
“If it’s any other company that is working for Nabou, for example, they are contracted to work for us and they have laid off their staff, we would have nothing to do with that.
“We are not involved in that decision. “According to our records we have not laid off any staff.
“The operations are as normal, but at the moment the power plant is not working because shareholders are planning to have a proper start which at the moment is taking time.
“Again I want to make it clear that the claims of people being laid off have nothing to do with Nabou Green Energy Ltd.
“Any other people working with Nabou Green Energy Ltd as a supplier if they are affected, we want to make it clear that they are not part of the company.”
The multi-million dollar power plant opened in 2017.
