THE organisers of the Vodafone Fiji Primary Schools Football Association is planning to improve the sport further in future.
Association president Ami Chand said they were hoping for a better performance from the schools.
“We have been playing this tournament for a long time as this is the 41st tournament. We have 20 U14 teams and eight U12 teams competing,” he said.
“We are expecting good performance from the teams.”
Teams were seen playing in jerseys with different sponsors logo. Chand said they also had plans with the sponsors to go big next year.
“From the sponsorship we receive from Vodafone Fiji we are not in a position to supply the schools with their uniforms. They are willing to come up with the jerseys as this is the first year they are sponsoring the tournament. It is in their plan to sponsor the uniforms in future. The teams have secured their own sponsorship for their jerseys,” he added.
“Over the years we have seen improvement in the competition with teachers also sacrificing their time and the students are also trying their best. We are thankful to the Ministry of Education for their support.
“Our target is to get more teams in future. The players who are playing in the teams are selected from various schools and not from one particular school.”
