Plans to build futsal courts

FIJI Football Association is looking to develop futsal at all districts through building futsal courts.
Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel confirmed that during the launch of the Vodafone Central Futsal League last Tuesday at Fiji FA Headquarters in Vatuwaqa.
“We have already secured a deal with AD Patel College in Ba where we are planning to develop the tennis court into futsal court, “Patel said.
“They will be giving their tennis court on a 25 years lease where will refurbish the court in to futsal court with the FIFA funding.”
Patel said that would help Fiji FA set up western zone Vodafone Futsal League.
“It is not only at one place as we are looking at Nadi also where people cannot reach like Northland Tailevu, Navua, Rewa and Tailevu Naitasiri,”
“The court is very easy to make but the expensive past is the mat and lighting and this is where we have to very mindful where we spent our money and everything.”
Patel said they could not be jack of all trade and master of none.
“We are concentrating on the eleven-a side and this is something others player can get opportunity and we are also looking at developing women’s futsal as well.”
Patel said they had plans to start women’s futsal league soon.
“We will soon start the women’s futsal league which will enhance the women players to get the skills.”
Patel confirmed that the futsal would be led by newly appointed Fiji FA vice president.
“The futsal will be chaired by our newly appointed vice president Jitendra Reddy who will be in-charge of the development of futsal,” he said.
