PEDESTRIANS and cyclists have been urged to refrain from using headphones while on the road.
The advisory follows a recent fatal road accident involving a cyclist and a bus.
Land Transport Authority chief executive officer Samuel Simpson has warned that those caught in the act would be dealt with accordingly.
“We advise pedestrians and cyclists not to use ear piece or headphones while on the road,” he said.
“LTA is also monitoring this issue on the road and if anyone is caught using ear piece while crossing the road or on bicycle with ear piece will be dealt with by LTA and police.”
He said the use of the device reduced concentration of pedestrians.
“Using these devices renders you unaware and unresponsive of the ever present dangers.”
