Pedestrians, cyclists warned against use of earphones

Listen to this article:

THE Land Transport Authority has issued a warning to pedestrians and cyclists against the use of earphones or headphones while on the road.

And it has warned that those caught will be dealt with by the authority and Police.

LTA chief executive officer Samuel Simpson issued this warning today citing a recent fatal road accident that involved a bus and a cyclist.

“We advise pedestrians and cyclists not to use earpieces or headphones when cycling or crossing the road,” Mr Simpson said.

“To use these devices renders you unaware and unresponsive of the ever-present dangers,” he added.

He said the LTA was now monitoring this issue to ensure this advice was adhered to.
