Pearls fight back to win

The Fiji Pearls Selection made it two from two to beat the touring Singapore women’s side 48-43 at the FMF Gymnasium in Laucala Bay, Suva last night.

The hosts had won the first match 50-47 on Monday.

The Unaisi Rokoura-coached side made a slow start to the match and trailed the visitors 12-13 in the first quarter. Singapore held on to the lead at half-time 28-24.

Fiji netted nine goals in the third quarter to close the gap to two points 35-37.

The home side put on the pressure in the last quarter to come out victors 48-43.

The two sides meet again tomorrow at the Vodafone Arena.

will name her final team to the World Cup qualifiers on Sunday.

Fiji will host the qualifiers from July 16 to 23.
