MORE than 160 peacekeepers completed their training at the military training camp BlackRock in Nadi today.

The peacekeepers trained for close to three weeks in preparation for their deployment to Iraq next month.

Congratulating the troops, Minister for Defence Inia Seruiratu said peacekeeping duties had been an important part of Fiji’s foreign diplomacy policy.

He said the soldiers were headed for Iraq as Fijian ambassadors.

A total of 89 personnel will depart next Wednesday while the remainder of the contingent is expected to leave in January 2020.
