A TOTAL of 36 families are living illegally in flats under the Lagilagi Housing Project in Jittu Estate in Samabula, Suva.

This was confirmed by Peoples Community Network, the  organisation overseeing the project.

PCN director Semiti Qalowasa claimed these families were from the squatter settlement located opposite the housing project formerly known as Veiquwawa settlement.

“This is one of the reasons why we are finding difficulties to move our saving members into these flats because of the tenants have forcefully moved into the flats,” Mr Qalowasa said.

“We had given them a five years grace period but until today, they are still staying in these flats.”
