Pastry chef of the year

SIGATOKA lad Vikash Chetty has added another feather to his cap after being named Fiji’s best pastry chef during this year’s Moffat Chefs Culinaire.
He won the title again after taking out the same award 10 years prior.
An employee of Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort since late 2012, Mr Chetty said he had been committed to hand crafting 100 per cent of all the pastry and bakery items produced in the kitchen.
He is also a keen teacher for budding pastry chefs.
“Competition is not about winning or losing but all about learning,” he said.
“I always tell my team the two secret ingredients to put on a plate is love and passion for food.
“I sincerely thank a few people who assisted me in my journey, especially Chef Shailesh Naidu who is the executive chef of Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort, the entire Outrigger chef team for the support and those who covered my shift while I was away competing and not forgetting my family.”
