Pastor and senior church member in court for rape and sexual assault

A PASTOR charged with multiple counts of rape along with a senior church member appeared in the Nasinu Magistrates Court today.

Pastor Waisake Tulavu, 46, is charged with four counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

Senior church member Sakiusa Nakutoro, 50, is also charged with one count of rape.

It is alleged they raped three church members aged 22, 29 and 32 years between May and June, 2018, in Nasinu.

Police prosecutor Constable Keshwan Krishna objected to bail on the grounds that the alleged incident had created high tension in the community.

The two have been remanded.

Magistrate Charles Ratakele will deliver his bail ruling on Friday, December 14.
