THE Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) will fight the upcoming general elections on its 2018 manifesto. This is the word from party president and Tui Cakau, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, adding that the manifesto was the party’s statement of intent for the upcoming polls, and if elected into Parliament.
“As the Major-General (Sitiveni Rabuka) has reiterated, the manifesto is not personal to him, but is based on SODELPA’s values and principles, and consultations with the community we have had,” Ratu Naiqama said.
“No person is greater than the party and we all, as party members, stand for the party’s values and principles that will be implemented through the party manifesto. “As far as our political affiliation is concerned, it is the party’s values, the SODELPA spirit, and the SODELPA manifesto that we support.”
The party’s leader and former prime minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, was recently charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) in relation to declaration of his assets and liabilities last year.
Ratu Naiqama has also urged all SODELPA members to remain steadfast, and continue their efforts for the upcoming general elections. He also called on party members and supporters to double their efforts towards their preparation for this year’s polls.
