Parties ready for trial in pastor’s rape case

Listen to this article:

A pastor who is charged with four counts of rape and one count of sexual assault appeared at the High Court in Suva today.

Waisake Tulave appeared before judge Justice Daniel Goundar.

The court was informed that both parties were ready for trial and the State would be calling 10 witnesses of which three are the complainants.

The prosecution’s case theory in the matter is that the accused was in a position of authority as a pastor and committed the alleged offences on the women in the pretence of deliverance.

The defence is disputing the allegations against the accused.

Mr Tulavu is alleged to have committed the offences on three complainants between May 11 and September 12, 2018, in Naitasiri.

The accused was further remanded.

The case has been adjourned to March 2 for trial.
