Parliamentary committee to start compiling report
22 May, 2016, 12:41 am
Update: 12:41PM AFTER receiving written and oral submissions over the past two weeks on whether Fiji should ratify the UN Convention on the Rights of People Living with Disabilities, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence will start compiling its report from tomorrow.
The committee received submissions from various government ministries, private sector organisations and NGOs representing people living with disabilities.
Looking at the submissions, all those who presented before the committee had said the Convention should be ratified without reservations.
The committee is expected to finalise the report by the end of this month and submit to Parliament its recommendations during the June sitting.
