YOUNG women who are sexually active have been advised to undergo pap smear at their nearest health centre.
This was highlighted by Fiji National University’s final year medical student John Kuilamu while speaking to youths of Naitasiri District at the Navuso village hall in Naitasiri today.
“Young women if you are sexually active please do visit your nearest health centre and undergo pap smear it’s a process where they will examine the mouth of your baby bag,” he said.
“This is really important because doctors will be able to know your status and it they see any early symptoms of uterus cancer, it can be treated.
He also advise youths to practice safe sex with their partners such as using condoms.
“If you are sexually active, it’s important that you get tested for HIV or STIs so that you can know your status.
