Padyachi denies alleged attempt to drown partner

THE 30-YEAR-OLD software engineer who is accused of attempted murder of a 37-year-old woman denied in court that he had taken the complainant to Colo-i-Suva to drown her.

Rajiv Krishan Padyachi appeared for his trial before judge Justice Chamath Morais at the High Court in Suva today.

It is alleged Mr Padyachi attempted to murder his partner on September 15 last year at Colo-i-Suva.

Mr Padyachi told the Court that he and the complainant had been to Colo-i-Suva four times prior to their visit on September 15, 2018.

He told the Court that on those visits, the complainant had also swum in the pools.

He said as far as he knew, the complainant knew how to swim.
