A COMPETITION titled ‘Pacific Take A Stand’ has been launched by the European Union (EU) in partnership with Pasifika Communications.

The video competition has been launched in an effort to give Pacific islanders a chance to document their experiences and express their views on the damaging effects of climate change.

The competition is open to anyone between the ages of 10 to 35 years and a citizen of one of the 15 Pacific ACP countries to submit a video between one to five minutes in length.

“These videos must demonstrate the impact of climate change in their communities, together with their coping strategies,” the joint statement by the EU and Pasifika Communications stated.

The winning video from this regional competition will be presented during the Pacific Resilience Meeting at the end of April, followed by a launch at the Europe Day celebrations, which will be held in Suva in May.
The deadline for entries is April 1, 2019.
The 15 countries eligible to enter include Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Timor Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.
