Pacific Mini Games: Team Fiji sprinters to compete in 100m semi-finals this evening

Team Fiji athletics sprinters Banuve Tabakaucoro, Tony Lemeki and Lasarusa Senibale will run in the 100m semi-finals at 6.30pm (Fiji time) today during the Pacific Mini Games in Saipan, Northern Marianas.

The trio cruised through the heats last night.

Tabakaucoro, who is the defending champion, ran 10.93 seconds while Lememi clocked 11.31s and Senibale finished in 11.21s.

The 100m final will be held at 9pm (Fiji time).

Braelynn Yee ran a 13.19s in the heats of the women’s 100m that saw her qualify for the final where she ran a 13.09s to finish sixth overall.

In the final of the men’s 10,000 metres, Avikash Lal braved the scorching sun and high humid conditions and crossed the line in a time of 36 minutes 09.03 seconds and a fifth place finish.

Apart from the men’s 100m semi-finals, also taking part today at 6pm (Fiji time) will be Samuela Railoa in the men’s 400m heats.
