Pacific island Justice Ministers update country’s efforts to ratify UNCAT

SEVEN Pacific Island Minister for Justices and Attorney Generals provided an update on their country’s efforts to ratify the United Nations Convention Against Torture (UNCAT) at a high-level seminar in Sigatoka today.

The keynote addresses were from Fiji’s Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, Federated States of Micronesia AG Jose’s Fallen, Palau Attorney General Ernestine Rengiil, Samoa’s Minister for Justice Faaolesa Katopau, Tonga’s Minister for Justice Sione Vuna Fa’atusia, Kiribati Minister for Justice Natan Teewe and the Marshall Island’s acting Attorney General, Jonathan Kawakami.

Out of the seven presenters, the two countries – Fiji and Marshall Islands – have confirmed being signatories of UNCAT.
