Ovalau completes trial, ready for the season

THE Ovalau Rugby Union selectors have named its squad to prepare for the 2018 Vodafone Vanua Championship.

After a year in B Division, the Ovalau rugby management is working overtime to prepare the team fight their way back to the top level (major union) of rugby in the country.

Ovalau rugby president Sakeasi Bukalidi said they had picked the best players after their trials at Wainaloka ground on Saturday.

Ovalau last played in the major union in 2015 and were relegated to the B Division in 2016.

Bukalidi said the competition for team spots was strong as players competed strongly for final selection.

Ovalau is among the few teams that had won the coveted HFC Bank Farebrother Challenge trophy after beating Lautoka at Churchill Park in 1992.
