Ovalau braces for top rugby

Update: 2:16AM THE Ovalau rugby 7s officials are anticipating entertaining rugby matches in the next two days at Nasau Park.

With top teams
such as Yasawa Stingers, Red Rock, Yamacia, the two shadow Fiji 7s team and
defending champions participating at the event, tournament official Seresio
Druguta said they expected rugby at its best on the island.

Wardens
have the services of playmakers in Sevuloni Rakula and former Fiji 7s player
Kelepi Namoua.

“Everyone
is looking forward to it,” he said.

“The
two Fiji 7s team are coming so the hype is there for people here in Ovalau to
come watch rugby at its best.

“And
with top clubs like Wardens, Red Rock, Yasawa Stingers and Yamacia also
competing, I believe this is going to be a thriller in Ovalau.”

He
said the Ovalau Rugby Union who was the main organiser of the event thanked the
Fiji Rugby Union for allowing the two Fiji 7s team to compete at the
tournament.

“Not
often we get our national teams to come to the island, so to have the Fiji 7s
team here is a huge boost to us and we’re so thankful to FRU for helping
out.”

The
tournament kicks off today in Levuka.

Meanwhile,
Vodafone Flying Fijians head coach John McKee is also travelling to Ovalau to
watch the tournament.
