Organisers of the Fiji Bitter Malomalo 7s are committed to helping the Fiji 7s team’s Olympic Games 7s campaign.
They are awaiting confirmation whether the Olympics defending gold medallists will feature in the tournament this weekend.
“Everyone wants Fiji to bring that gold medal back home and if we can do our part to ensure that we will,” said games co-ordinator Semi Tanikili.
Tanikili said they were impressed how small teams took their chances against the Fiji 7s team and would expect the same this weekend.
“Every team in Fiji likes to be the underdog, and no underdog like a team that takes on Fiji.” It’s always an uphill climb but people will chance it to get that upset.”
Tanikili said talks were on-going between the tournament director and Fiji 7s manager Jone Niurua and looked forward to getting a positive result soon.
