EXTENDED trading hours of bars and nightclubs in the central business districts do little to help curb poverty, violence and domestic disputes in our local communities.
The initial intent to attract tourists to enjoy themselves into the wee hours seem ill-founded now.
The stretch of the Queens Rd along Martintar, Nadi, and several side streets is often a pitiful sight during my early morning walk.
Young men are seen flat on their backs and in awkward positions in their drunk states.
Valuable dollars destined for home do not stand a single chance. Hard-earned wages are proudly spent at bars and nightclubs.
In my honest view, nightclubs in CBDs do not necessarily need to be allowed to remain open until 5am.
I know I stand to be challenged on this subject. Comments for or against this opinion will be most welcomed.
