Open merit system to bolster confidence: AG

Update: 3:26PM APART from improving Government?s efforts in delivering services to all Fijians, the Open Merit Recruitment and Selection (OMRS) system will also aim to bolster the confidence of civil servants on the civil service.

Speaking in Savusavu during the National Teachers Consultations last week, Attorney General and Minister for Justice Aiyaz-Sayed Khaiyum said there were people that wanted to apply for jobs in the civil service and the objective of the reform, fundamentally for Government, was to ensure the delivery of service to the Fijian people.

“As we have said to the Ministry of Education officials, their job is to look after you (teachers) and if they create an environment where you feel happy and have confidence in the system, you will do what we want you to do which is serve our clients, the 220,000 students in schools around the country,” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.
