Officers retrieve student’s body from culvert

POLICE and officers from the National Fire Authority have located the body of a 16-year-old student who was reportedly swept into a culvert while trying to retrieve a ball.

Police confirmed the incident occurred this afternoon at the Nadera grounds opposite Duvula Road in Nasinu.

Authorities have now urged parents and guardians to keep a close watch on their children during this adverse weather condition that is being experienced in some parts of the country.

In light of the prevailing weather situation, Police are again urging parents and guardians to keep a close watch over their children.

“Police officers continue to warn and clear children swimming in creeks and flooded drains and have warned parents of the consequences of leaving their children unsupervised,” Police said.
