ODPP invites professor for expert evidence on incestuous rape case

A CLINICAL professor from Stanford University has described a recent rape case in Fiji as inhumane.

Doctor Daryn Reicherter, the director of the Human Rights in Trauma and Mental Health Program and a clinical professor at the Stanford University’s School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Sciences was invited by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) to give expert evidence in the case involving a father who raped and impregnated his daughter and had also raped his 10-year-old granddaughter.

Dr Reicherter said the case was about a man who wanted to destroy the lives of two women without any hesitation.

He said he had never come across such a case and he even had difficulties trying to discuss it with his colleagues and those who had dealt with similar cases internationally.
