THE Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union Southern Zone Super Deans Championship competition was launched yesterday with the presence of the chief executive officer of Fiji Rugby Union John O’Connor, sponsors and executives of the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Southern Zone committee.

The Deans trophy southern zone competition features schools from around the Suva area that are currently in battle for a spot in the Deans Trophy play-offs.

O’Connor commended the hard work of the officials and teachers on the organisation of the weekly competition.

“We understand the task of organising competitions as such and we are thanking the teachers on their hard work and dedication in carrying this forward,” said O’Connor.

“Everyone has been here supporting this cause and working together to make this competition a success from the teachers who volunteer, to the officials and everyone,” he added.

Vodafone Fiji sponsorship manager Adriu Vakarau thanked the executives for putting up a good organised tournament that is hoped to be able to continue well through the coming weeks.

“We would like to thank the organisers of the tournament for supporting the cause and also on behalf of Vodafone we are glad to be part of development rugby and a big thank you to everyone for making this competition a success as it continues,” he said.

The competition continues every weekend at the Suva Grammar Schools ground in Suva.
