Oceania 7s: Fiji beats NZ; Kiwis out of contention

THE Fiji Airways Fiji mens side edged New Zealand 21-15 at the Oceania 7s this evening.

Two early tries to Fiji saw them leading 14-nil early own however New Zealand replied with one of their own to see Fiji leading 14-5 at the break.

Both teams managed a try each in the second spell.

Fijian coach Gareth Baber was pleased with his team’s performance in the pool stages.

Meanwhile the loss means New Zealand are out of the main competition.

The All Blacks 7s had earlier lost 17-14 against Japan.

Fiji will now play Japan in the international men’s final tomorrow.

Samoa plays Australia in the Olympic qualifier final.

The winner of both finals meet in the Oceania 7s final later tomorrow.
