THE contents of a statement by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption announcing the dismissal of a complaint lodged by Opposition Leader Sitiveni Rabuka against Rewa Co-operative Dairy Company has spurred a war of words between the investigative agency and the Office of the Auditor-General.

Yesterday the OAG issued a statement in response to the FICAC statement, rebutting the comments made by FICAC and stating that as a petition and affidavit for leave to appeal to the Supreme Court had been filed by the petitioners (Aliz Pacific & Nur Bano Ali v Auditor-General and Attorney-General Supreme Court of Appeal – Petition CBV 2 of 2020) with the Supreme Court on January 9, 2020, and served on their solicitors on January 10, 2020.

“The OAG will respect the court process hence will not be issuing any further statements on the matter.”

FICAC, however, issued a further statement saying investigations into a complaint against Rewa Co-operative Dairy Company Ltd was a criminal matter and standing by the comments it made earlier.
