NZ names 7 Fijians to play in HK

NEW ZEALAND has named its team to the Hong Kong 7s that include seven players with links to Fiji.

Rated as the first New Zealand team with the biggest number of Fijian players to play at So Kon Po stadium, the side will face Fiji in its Pool A clash.

Amanaki Nicole, who grew up in Fiji, did not have the opportunity to play the sport until he was 12 years old, stuff.co.nz reported. Jona Nareki is fully contracted with the All Blacks Sevens team. Salesi Rayasi, son of former Flying Fijians fullback Filipe, and Akuila Rokolisoa are likely to face the Fiji Airways Fiji 7s team as they are drawn in the same pool with Russia and Samoa.

Making his return to the New Zealand team is Rocky Khan as HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series campaigners Luke Masirewa and Joe Ravouvou have been retained.
