FIJI 7s coach Gareth Baber knows Australia will offer a bruising encounter against his boys in the second pool match of the New Zealand Sevens at Hamilton this evening.

With the match scheduled for this evening in what could be a chilly atmosphere for the Fijians, especially the new players, Baber said the boost was the scrape through against Samoa.

Fiji’s Jerry Tuwai, opened the scoring in the second minute after Samoa’s Vaa Apelu scored in the first minute.

Tuwai darted around the Samoans to score for Napolioni Bolaca to convert for 7-7.

Vilimoni Botitu was outstanding after combining with Aminiasi Tuimaba for Fiji’s second try for a 12-7 Fiji lead at halftime.

Samoa’s Joe Perez leveled scores 12-all when match resumed, but tireless Tuimaba had the last say for Fiji to win 19-12.

Baber said he beat his counterpart at trying to read Fiji’s game plans.

Fiji plays Samoa Australia at 6:35pm (Fiji time).
