A SURGE in athletes for Jai Narayan College has contributed to the success of their inter-house competition with some gaining qualifying times for the zone.
Head of the physical education department Josefa Daunabou said while the inter-house was generally to find out where each athlete stood, there were some with the extra factor that could produce results for the school.
“For us in terms of athletes, the number has gone up compared with previous years and the way it looks we will be taking a good number to the zone,” he said.
Grouped with the big leagues, Daunabou said they would have to work hard for their fair share of attention.
“We have a very tough zone because there are a lot of big schools that we will be competing against like Marist, Suva Grammar and St. Joseph’s. We will take things one at a time moving forward,” he said.
The school held their inter-house competition yesterday at the ANZ Stadium with the winners to be announced after school commences next Monday.
