November International: Flying Fijians defeat fighting Spain outfit in Madrid

Fiji took down a fighting Spain outfit 43-13 when they kicked off their European tour in Madrid early this morning (local time).

The Flying Fijians trailed a point behind Spain 13-12 in the first half, with tries from Mesulame Kunavula and Setareki Tuituvu.

Fijian captain Waisea Nayacalevu opened the second half with a try and a conversion from Ben Volavola.

And a little under seven minutes and former 7s rep Peni Ravai penetrated the Spanish defence to score another try, and Volavola’s successful conversion put Fiji further in the lead 24-13.

After 17 minutes of play, Aminiasi Tuimaba scored his fourth try for Fiji – 31-13.

And after 26 minutes of play, 29-year-old Sam Matavesi’s strong carry earned the team a try, and successfully converted by Volavola to widen their lead 38-13.

Josua Tuisova also scored a try after 34 minutes of play, taking Fiji’s points up to 43-13.

Fiji continues their Northern Hemisphere November International tour next with Wales.

Fiji is ranked 11th in the world.
