MORE than 500 people gathered at Subrail Park in Labasa today to remember the fallen heroes who died in the line of duty fighting for world peace in the Middle East.
In marking 40 years of Fiji’s participation in peacekeeping missions abroad, the chief guest Tui Macuata Ratu Wiliame Katonivere described the event as a celebration to remember the fallen heroes who sacrificed a lot for the nation and for today’s generation.
“This is a day of remembrance and reflection of the selfless sacrifice our troops made for the preservation of global peace,” Ratu Wiliame said.
“We pay tribute to our leaders at the time of their vision to involve Fiji for the greater good in the pursuance of global peace.”
