POLICE officers in the North have been urged to support their new divisional police commander North Senior Superintendent of Police Eparama Waqa.
Officiating during the official handover ceremony of the post from outgoing DPC SSP Verani Nakauyaca to SSP Waqa on Thursday, chief operations officer and acting assistant commissioner of police Maretino Qiolevu reiterated to personnel the importance of the appointments made by the Commissioner of Police.
Acting ACP Qiolevu said the new DPC, SSP Waqa, was the representative of the commissioner in the North.
“The success of any leader depends on the officers under their command and their support in carrying out the work of the organisation,” he said.
“Therefore, your support to your new leader is fundamental to ensure that the objectives of the organisation are achieved.”
Meanwhile, the DPC North, SSP Nakauyaca will assume his new post of DPC West from this week.
Earlier he had thanked the community, the personnel under his command and the public in the North for supporting policing work in the North.
SSP Nakauyaca said the spirit of unity was something that made his work easier in the North during his tenure.
SSP Waqa was formerly the DPC Eastern.
