The Fiji Motorsports Association is taking its first Car Show to the Northern Division this week.

With an aim to increase interest in the sport of car racing, FMA president Raizal Haniff said the northerners were usually left out and this would be a perfect opportunity to make them feel inclusive.

“Car racing is a sport usually done here on Viti Levu,” he said.

“We are trying to get the car lovers in the North to come onboard and join us when we have races here. This car show is something that we want to start with.”

To increase the interest at the first show up North, a number of cars from the Central Division would be attending the event.

“About 26 cars will make the trip to Labasa this Friday. Our show and shine for North has already registered 35 cars. This show and shine will only be for North cars as the cars from Suva won’t be judged and will be for show only.

“Fiji Motorsports Association, in partnership with Pacific Energy, Classic Paints Easicoat, A Hussain Radar tyres and Summer Trading, have been really supportive towards the event. Without them this wouldn’t have been possible.”

He called on car racing lovers in the North to support the event.

The Car Show takes place at Labasa’a Subrail Park from 10am to 9pm.
