Nomination closes for annual WIB awards

Update: 1:07PM WOMEN in Business (WIB) yesterday closed nominations and applications for its annual awards to be held at Suva’s Grand Pacific Hotel (GPH) next month.

The awards, which was launched in Suva earlier in February, honours Fiji’s outstanding businesswomen who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in their business or profession and in their service to the community.

According to WIB president Dr Nur Bano Ali, the WIB executive team had taken a different approach this year towards its application and nomination drive.

This year, Dr Ali said they particularly sought after corporate organisations, including government ministries in getting employers, managers and staff members to submit nominations in the various WIB awards categories.

“The response we received from these nomination drives was tremendous and while we are closing applications today, some of the organisations have requested to submit their nominations later,” Dr Ali said.

The WIB awards are in four categories – Business Woman of the Year, Executive Woman of the Year, Manager of the Year and Aspiring Entrepreneur of the Year.

The WIB executive team also held several speed networking sessions and awards drive sessions in Suva, Nadi, and Ba engaging with women from the corporate, private and public sector.

The event will be themed ‘Times Up’ to join the global campaign on speaking out against the systemic abuse of women.
