QUALITY water is a basic need and for the villagers of Visa in the district of Vugalei, Tailevu this has been a problem since the establishment of their village in 1955.
Village headman Emori Latitoga said for the past 30 years they had been writing to government through their provincial council meetings seeking assistance in the delivery of clean water.
“In 2005 our village was given a total of seven water tanks from the government to cater for the 27 houses that make up our village,” Mr Latitoga said.
Mr Latitoga said the water tanks were only useful during rainy weather for drinking and during the dry season, they had to resort to well water and spring water from wells dug by their forefathers.
Questions sent to the Tailevu Provincial Council and WAF on the issue remain unanswered.
