THERE is currently no law in Fiji that prohibits the online publication of pornographic photos or videos of those who give consent to the material.

This was said by Chairperson of the Standing Committee for the Online Bill Ashneel Sudhakar when responding to Lenora Qereqeretabua’s submissions to the bill today.

He said while there were laws which prohibit sexual criminal acts, there were no specifications for online material.

Ms Qereqeretabua today said she did not agree with the Bill as it would infer that with consent of those involved in the sexual act, members of the public and most importantly children could view the pornographic material online.
