The Fiji Football Association expects all footballers and officials to follow the new normal by getting vaccinated for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in order to participate in its competitions when the sporting restrictions are lifted.
The Fiji FA has made it compulsory for all footballers and officials to get the vaccine jabs to play the sport.
Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel said they had advised all district officials and players that they needed to be vaccinated to get the greenlight to play in the Fiji FA competitions.
“We feel that we have to do our part and they need to do their part to make sure that there is normalcy,” Patel said.
“We need to get vaccinated. Some organisations feel that vaccination is not good. But as part of protocol for football to get back to normalcy and also for sports to begin, we have advised all district officials and players that they need to be vaccinated.
“This is what we feel is part of protocol so now is the time to get prepared.”
The Digicel Premier League and Digicel Women’s Super League competitions were halted in April after the sporting restriction was imposed.
The restriction also forced the indefinite deferment of the Digicel Fiji FACT.
Patel said they would resume with the 2021 season once the Fiji National Sports Commission gave the clearance.
