There should not be any discrimination against students and their families who may have contracted COVID-19, states the Safe School Reopening Guidelines of the Ministry of Education.

“Any stigmatisation or discrimination against students or families who may have had contact with a COVID-19 positive patient or who contracted the virus themselves are eliminated,” the document read.

“Psychosocial support options for students, parents/guardians and teachers, through counselling or faith-based support are considered.”

The ministry stated masks were to be worn appropriately by all staff members and students at all times in school.

“Social physical distance is maintained in the classrooms, especially in the sitting arrangements as much as possible.

“Posters on handwashing etiquette and COVID-19 symptoms are put in prominent places as a reminder to students, parents/guardians and staff.”

All schools were to ensure cleaning and disinfection procedures were followed and observed at all times.

“Students, teachers and staff refrain from sharing drinking water bottles, cups and eating utensils” Year 12 and Year 13 students will return to classes on November 1.
