NINE young women will be vying for the Miss Sugar Festival crown this year.
Organising committee member Pusp Raj said the selection process had taken about two and a half months.
“Normally when the contestants come, they don’t have a sponsor so we help them out with this,” he said.
Mr Raj said preparations for the festival were ongoing.
“The stall patterns have changed so that’s one new thing about the festival this year. We are making use of space and the program designed is also for a range of audiences.
“We have about 40 food stalls for this year’s event and they have been selling well.”
The theme for this year’s festival is “Clean Environment, Healthy Nation and Brighter Future”.
He has called on the people of Lautoka to come forward and support the festival which begins this Saturday.
