Local non-governmental organisation, Make a Difference Fiji (MADF), has recently assisted 91 families in home isolation living in Serua and Namosi.
A charity committee in Melbourne, Australia having links with Fiji, set up a fund that saw them collect $7316, which went directly to MADF in purchasing the food packs for the 91 families in home isolation.
The NGO stated that 70 families from Mau Village, six families from Veivatuloa Village, eight families from Vunibau Village, six families from Naitonitoni Village and one family from Dranikula settlement were assisted through this initiative.
The NGO’s assistant president Tulia Qovuna said they deeply acknowledge the monetary contribution made by the Melbourne-based charity committee for their philanthropic activities.
“A total of 364 individuals were assisted under this initiative and these food packs will greatly assist these families during their home isolation,” she said.
Ms Qovuna added that provincial administrators of both Serua and Namosi also played a key role in their food distribution to these villages.
“Our NGO has so far assisted more than 2500 families since the second wave of the pandemic started in April this year.”
