NFP leader suspended for 10mins

Update: 10:39AM NATIONAL Federation Party leader and Opposition Member of Parliament Professor Biman Prasad was suspended from Parliament for 10 minutes this morning.

The
suspension was a result of Prof Prasad failing to adhere to a ruling delivered
by Speaker Dr Jiko Luveni while Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum was
answering a question regarding inter-island airline ticket prices for local travellers .

Dr Luveni
said Prof Prasad, on several times, had disobeyed her rulings.

Under
Standing Order 75, the Speaker may order any member
whose conduct is highly disorderly or repeatedly violates the Standing Orders
to withdraw immediately from Parliament or a period of time that the Speaker
decides, being no more than the remainder of that sitting day.
