THERE is no pressure on the super premier newcomers Tailevu/Naitasiri in the Courts Inter-District Championship which starts this weekend.
Tailevu Naitasiri Football Association president Sundeep Roy said they would go into the tournament “to feel the atmosphere of playing in the super premier division”.
The side is grouped with Suva, Labasa and Nadi and will take on the Jetsetters at 6pm tonight at Prince Charles Park.
Roy said their major focus was the upcoming National Football League competition.
With coach Tagi Vonolagi out of the country, Roy confirmed Shalen Roy would be coaching the team to the IDC.
“We have been preparing for the past two weeks. This will be our first super premier outing and we are looking forward to the experience,” Sundeep said.
Tailevu Naitasiri has roped in some players, who have the experience of playing in the top flight, during the transfer window last month.
They are Vikrant Chandra, Ajesh Narayan, Kitione Tabaiwalu, Jale Vota and Nitan Kumar.
Former Tavua goalkeeper Josaia Ratu is expected to lead the team.
“It’s the experience of these players that can guide the ones playing for the first time,” Sundeep said.
