THE many messages of solidarity and support from Fijians in the wake of a mass shooting in Christchurch, New Zealand, last week have been received with gratitude by New Zealanders.

NZ High Commissioner to Fiji Jonathan Curr said they welcomed the support of their many friends in Fiji.

“(Our) Government is absolutely determined that New Zealand will remain an open society,” Mr Curr said.

“We are deeply grateful for all messages of sympathy and solidarity that we are receiving from our friends all around the world, and in particular Fiji.

“We are very grateful for that, we stand in solidarity with the Muslim community in New Zealand and the Muslim community in Fiji and around the world.”
