New Zealand 7s

After finishing 4th overall in the 2016/2017 season of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, New Zealand is in a comfortable position compared to most teams.

However, in the 2017/2018 season it will have a new coach and will also be without the expertise of DJ Forbes, the world’s most capped 7s player ever, as he enters retirement.

Last year, New Zealand’s best finishes were at Cape Town, Sydney and Paris where it placed third.

The 2017/2018 season will tell if New Zealand can excel without Forbes and possibly crack a finals finish at one of the tour stops.

The team will be coached by Clark Laidlaw.

Meanwhile, three Fijian players; Joe Ravouvou, Viliame Koroi and Luke Masirewa will boost NZ in the Sydney 7s campaign.
