Sirius Star Services Ltd has announced it will begin its operations between mid to late March this year, allowing customers a new form of access to ports in New Zealand.
According to the global leader in shipping services, Maersk, this dedicated Fiji service would provide its customers with a weekly service from Suva and Lautoka connecting with the New Zealand hub ports of Auckland and Tauranga.
It would also include new direct access from New Zealand coastal ports in the South Island: Timaru, Lyttelton and Nelson as the company stated this was where much of New Zealand’s fresh produce and meat products were exported from.
Apart from receiving the full global coverage from Maersk, customers would also be provided with comprehensive logistics services and market-leading online platform which would provide live pricing as well as end-to-end booking, documentation, tracking and finance capabilities.
The service was said to allow Maersk to provide a much greater engagement through its capacity, commitment and reliability.
The chief executive officer of Maersk’s agent in Fiji – Shipping Services (Fiji) Pte Ltd – Jeffrey Lin, said the company was looking forward to having its own service operating as it would bring a quality of service to the market for which Maersk was globally known.
