New rugby league zone competition

THE newly introduced Fiji National Rugby League inter zone competition is expected to be more exciting and competitive.
The inter zone has replaced the Vodafone Cup competition where the Top 8 clubs in Fiji always competed.
The new format will see the battle of districts similar to the Fiji Rugby Union Skipper Cup competition.
And with the first round of games scheduled at Lawaqa Park today, fans are expected to witness tough and physical battles both in the men and women’s competition.
The feature match of the afternoon will see Lautoka Crusaders battling against the Outrigger Fiji Nadroga Knights.
The Sugar City boys will be dominated by the champion Saru Dragons players and combined with some players from Lautoka Crushers, West Tigers and Yasawa Knights.
The host team comprised of players from Coastline Roos, Fiji Transfers Namatakula Raiders, Coastal Owls, Noitoga Bears, Nanumi Au Knights and Tagaqe Eels.
In another premier encounter Nadi Concord will face Navosa Eels. The Jetsetters will have players from the Sabeto Roosters, Ravoravo Rabbitohs and Nadi Eels.
FNRL development officer Suli Cakautabu said the competition is expected to be tough as all teams would want to win the first game.
