SENIOR Superintendent of Police (SSP) Verani Nakauyaca has been appointed the new Divisional Police Commander West.
Mr Nakauyaca’s appointment is one of a few major changes made by the Fiji Police Force.
In a statement yesterday, the police force announced that SSP Nakauyaca replaced former DPC West SSP Abdul Khan who has been appointed the new Divisional Police Commander South taking over from SSP Tevita Waqabaca.
Mr Waqabaca takes up his new role as the Director of Internal Affairs based at the police headquarters in Suva.
SSP Nakauyaca’s former post of DPC North will be taken up by SSP Eparama Waqa who previously held the post of DPC East.
In officiating the official handing over of the posts, chief operations officer Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Maretino Qiolevu said the appointments made reflected the trust the Commissioner of Police had in their ability to perform the demanding role of leading a division and an important unit for the organisation.
Acting ACP Qiolevu called on officers in the two divisions to respect the appointments and support the work of their newly appointed Commanders.
He added change was never easy and the support rendered to those in command would benefit the organisation as a whole.
